What’s new in Bali?

Bali is a vibrant place to be and attracts more and more visitors. More and more attractions and new destinations are added constantly. The tourism industry is developing and moving fast forwards. Here are some remarkable news:

Waterbom Bali, #1 Water Park in Asia, Announces Exciting Expansion Plans

Waterbom Bali, renowned as the top water park in Asia, is set to thrill visitors even further with its upcoming expansion project. Scheduled to open in early July, the expansion will introduce new slides and facilities, including the exciting Oasis Gardens, four new slide thrills, a cafe, a lagoon pool with a swim-up bar, new gazebos, and more beautifully landscaped gardens.

Waterbom Bali has long been a beloved destination for families seeking fun and excitement on the island. With its thrilling water slides, wave pools, and various attractions suitable for all ages, Waterbom has consistently provided unforgettable experiences for visitors worldwide.

Bali Safari and Marine Park – Rain Forest Trail

Bali Safari and Marine Park has opened Bali’s one and only rainforest trail.

The Rainforest Trail is a winding path that takes visitors through a dense forest teeming with life as they make their way through the trail. Majestic black jaguars, flamingos, wallabies, otters, playful gibbons and cheeky macaques can be discovered. The animals are housed in large, open enclosures that mimic their natural habitats, providing plenty of space to roam and interact with their surroundings. This new exhibit isn’t just a fun day out for visitors. The experience also has an important educational and conservation aspect to it. As you explore the trail, you’ll learn about the various species of animals that call the rainforest home and the threats they face in the wild.

Escape Bali’s Traffic with Go Boat:

A New Adventure from Uluwatu to Canggu in Just 40 Minutes

Bali, renowned for its breathtaking landscapes and vibrant culture, attracts millions of tourists annually. However, the island’s popularity has also led to increasing traffic congestion, particularly along the route from Uluwatu to Canggu. Go Boat is a revolutionary transportation service that offers a quick and hassle-free route from Uluwatu to Canggu, two popular destinations in Bali. With Go Boat, you can bypass the congested roads and navigate through the sparkling blue waters of the Indian Ocean, reaching the destination in just 40 minutes.

Not only does Go Boat offer an escape from traffic congestion, but it also provides a unique opportunity to explore lesser-known coastal areas of Bali. Passengers can admire hidden beaches, secret coves, and magnificent rock formations only accessible by boat. This extraordinary experience allows travellers to discover Bali’s hidden gems and create memories that will last a lifetime.

Backlash Over Ban On Tourist Activities On Bali’s Mountains Grows

Beginning of June, Bali’s Governor Wayan Koster announced a ban on all tourist activities on Bali’s twenty-two mountains. The decision was praised by some as an impactful way to eliminate disrespectful behaviour on the island’s most sacred sites, but for many local people and business owners, the ban has created an overnight loss of livelihood and financial security.

Governor Koster’s decision to ban all but a few activities on the mountains has also impacted the local community, domestic tourists, and international visits. This has triggered a backlash by local guides and communities who depend upon tourism activities in the mountains and volcanos for their lives and livelihoods. Although Bali is a destination synonymous with beaches and jungles, the mountains and volcanos on the island have provided the environment for some of the province’s most popular and in-demand tourist activities. The sunrise hike to the summit of Mount Batur is one of the most highly sought-after tourist activities on the island. Thousands of tourists hike the mountain monthly, with hundreds more taking sunrise jeep tours around the volcano’s slopes.

Mount Agung, the highest peak on the island, is another important cultural landmark that, until now, has provided a source of income for local communities who support tourists with hiking to the summit. It is not only guides who have lost their jobs but drivers who have lost part of their income; locally run guest houses and even restaurants in these areas will see a sharp downturn in tourist visits.

Do’s and Dont’s in Bali: New tourists’ information card handed out

Foreign travellers arriving on the island will have the cards “slipped” into their passports upon arrival.

The cards contain 12 “dos” and eight “don’ts”, instructing them about the conventions of traditions, religion and local law.

Under the “don’ts” list, tourists are banned from trespassing on sacred territories, touching sacred trees, engaging in behaviour impeding sacred areas, littering, using single-use plastics, profanity, illegal work or business activities and any criminal acts.

Meanwhile, tourists are encouraged to respect sacred objects, customs and traditions, behave politely in sacred places, be escorted by a licensed tour guide, exchange money at authorised money changers, comply with relative laws, stay in permit-holding accommodation, and adhere to all rules.

Airline News

Batik Air expanded its routes to Vietnam by adding Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City in May in response to the growing demand for flights between Indonesia and Vietnam.

The world’s largest passenger aircraft from Emirates (Airbus A380) could be welcomed to Bali on June 1st. Emirates will fly direct from Dubai several times a week to Bali. That is another indicator of the increasing capacity demand from the Arabian region as a travel hub.

Talks between Indonesia and India’s tourism ministries and related tourism industry representatives encourage more direct flights from India to Indonesia. The number of guests from India will in the future continue to grow. Direct flights from India to Bali are expected to be available within 2023.
